HRO Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

HRO is an intercultural, creative consulting company; it was established in Shanghai in 2002 by an international team of consultants for providing People and Organization Development services to companies in China. Since 2002 the company has created significant intellectual property and know-how in the area of Organizational Diagnostics, Personnel Assessment, Training / Coaching in China, and established a steady customer base. We are proud of the fact that many of our Clients are global leaders in their respective fields. Another highlight of HRO that it's online suite of diagnostic tools attracted a loyal and growing user base, and now it has users not only in China, but also in the UK, Germany, Malaysia and Australia. HRO is one of the very few (if not the only) OD companies in China that has exported some tools/know-how to the "West", not only imported them.

Maria Lin

Ms. Lin took over the Managing Director role of HRO at the end of 2017. She was an associate consultant, coach and trainer of HRO since 2006. She has over 15 year experience in HR Management, including 7 years HRM experience in fortune 500 and publicly traded corporations. Ms. Lin has set up HR management from scratch for newly established companies and has implemented HR restructuring projects after M&A. She has gained a deep understanding of both the operational and the strategic aspects of HR Management, just as gained experience in leading a team and creating business value as well.

She has been always strongly attracted to and inspired by Talent Assessment, Training and Development, and she has delivered many Assessment Center, Development Center, and training programs over the years.

In all those projects, the depth of her knowledge and rich experience combined with her sensitivity to the needs of clients and participants always leaves a deep impact, and helps both the companies and employees reach their goals.

Her Clients include Bosch Group, Omron, Porsche, Skoda,General Motors Corporation, Shanghai Volkswagen, China Eastern, Bank of Communications, Carrefour, Fuchs Lubricants, MAN Turbo, Sinochem, Wisepac, etc.



Steve Mellau

Senior Consultant, Trainer & Coach with 15 years experience in corporate consulting and training. His forte includes:

He is a certified coach of the WIAL (World Association of Action Learning Washington DC). As accepted facilitator and trainer he has held a number of challenging assignments in China, Germany, Austria, Hungary, India, South Korea, Hong Kong. He is member of the TOPS Berlin & Munich (Germany) of Trainer & Consultant Society. He holds a postgraduate degree in corporate psychology; speaks German, English, Hungarian and Romanian fluently and is currently learning Chinese intensively.



Gabor Nagy

Mr. Gabor Nagy, Advisor, Senior Consultant and Trainer. He is a co-author of Trait-Map, Motivation Questionnaire and several other assessment tools and competency models. He is the developer and senior consultant for advanced Organizational Diagnostic Tools (OD-Map, Team-SWOT, Organizational Network Analysis, various surveys). 15+ years experience in Talent Management enables him to deliver solutions for Performance Management, Employee Retention / Engagement, Succession Planning, Competency Modeling.

As a trainer, he combines “mental" with "experiential" learning and workshop elements to achieve a lasting impact. His areas of training:
- Intercultural Communication/Management;
- Teambuilding (especially for intercultural management teams);
- Conflict Management;
- Motivation Skills.

Client companies for his in-house programs include: Ametek, Bacou-Dalloz, BASF, Bosch, Brady, Degussa, Fuchs Petrolub, Gale Pacific, ICA, International Nutrition, International Paint, Knorr-Bremse, Schenker, Shanghai Volkswagen, Sinochem, SLIC, UEAS, and he has been an invited speaker and lecturer at the German, Swedish, British and American Chamber of Commerce, and at the Tongji, Jiaoda, SIFT, Maritime, Nordakademie University MBA/EMBA classes. He started to learn Chinese language in 1987, and started his career as a Chinese-Hungarian interpreter in Hungary, before holding a number of challenging positions across China for Global Autotech (Beijing Rep. Office Manager), Singapore Premier Technologies (Market Development Department Manager), and eGate InfoTech (Business Consultant). Mr. Nagy is also a Visiting Professor at the Shanghai Institute for Foreign Trade Professional Development Center since 2005. He is fluent in English, Chinese and Hungarian.



Frieder Demmer

Mr. Friedemann Demmer, Advisor, Senior Consultant, Co-Author of Trait-Map and MQ, builds on 18 years of experience in training and assessment, including more than 800 job-fit assessment projects for the German Employment Office. Mr. Demmer has worked at BFI Peters for ten years, a well known German vocational training company, as trainer and project leader coordinating the work of 100 specialists. In Shanghai, he has performed coaching and training for Shanghai VW, Nestle, Siemens Dematic, Schenker, ICA, Osram, NEC, Rohm & Haas, Weltbild, the German Chamber of Industry and Trade and a broad spectrum of small and midsize companies. He is the recommended expert by the German Chamber in Crisis Intervention and intercultural issues. Besides executive coaching, he also has significant achievements as a water-sport coach: has worked with World- and Olympic Champions in white-water kayaking, and used to be a coach of the Shanghai International Friendship Dragonboating Team. His educational background includes a Master of Education, majoring in psychology, and a Postgraduate Program in Business Administration. Currently, he is heading the corporate academy of AGCO International GmbH, Switzerland.



Vivian Guo, PhD

Ms. Vivian Guo, university lecturer, besides working as psychologist in the past, has also hosted a popular psychological hotline radio show. Ms Guo has completed her Ph.D. in Management Psychology at Eastern China Normal University, with a significant thesis on organizational citizenship, based on quantitative research in 9 corporations. She has been lecturer of Shanghai Normal University Applied Psychology Department teaching organizational behavior and has been a Teaching Assistant for organizational behavior in the MBA program held by the University of West Australia. She brings 15 years consulting experience to assessment tool development, personnel assessment and training at HRO.
